John Frye maak hierdie opmerkings:
“What is a spiritual discipline? It is simply a human activity that creates a space or setting for God to work. I do mean for God to work and work mightily. I now understand for example, that solitude and silence are not activities that earn God’s favor or blessing. They are simply practices I choose to do that position me to receive God’s favor or blessing. Since this is true, I would be a fool to be negligent in practicing these two significant, time honored behaviours.”
“Dallas Willard did the church a remarkable service in calling us to seriously consider not only Jesus’ teachings, but also his very way of life. Jesus’ way of life models a consistent practice of the spiritual disciplines. Christlikeness without the pratice of the disciplines is an absolutely absurdity and impossibility.”
“Christlikeness – what an incredible concept! Think about. The heavenly Father has purposed that his salvation shape us into the image of his Son (Rom 8:29).
(Rom. 8:29)
God alleen kan hierdie werk in my doen.
